Leo through Aries

How it Started vs. How its Going

Hello collectors! I am so happy that you’re here opening this email. It’s been a wild ride focusing on the 12 zodiac signs. I figured I’d send a little update on how the collection is going, because I am a lady without a plan this time, just a process.

Aries through Leo is complete! Working on the rest for the collection release on March 20th. Enjoy the update and ignore the grammar. Thanks.

The Warmth of the Sun | Leo

A little break down…

Literally though, do you ever have one of those frustrating days? Where you feel so close to the answer but you’re not sure how to execute? That was the day I had when creating this painting. I was a little frustrated with how Cancer came out (sorry, I plan to re-do it), and I Leo was the next thing on my to-do list.

Leo is so important to me; I have a lot of Leo friends, and I wanted to convey what it like to feel the warmth of having a Leo friend. They are ruled by the sun- so it makes sense right?

Even more reason to love this one, I think it can speak to us on so many different levels: the warmth of Religion, the feeling of peace, the energy of community.

Sorry I just really love this one…

I realize this is a different vibe than the rest of the collection, but points of frustration lead to small breakthroughs, and that was my goal when creating this collection.

Patti | Cancer

Changing the Process

This painting was a catalyst to try something new. For those of you that missed it on Instagram, I brought a live crab into the studio and drew her from life.

I am not regularly hanging out with crabs so having this guest in studio was pretty stressful. I was afraid of her- but bonded with her by the end of the day.

I feel like I really wanted to do this crab, that I named Patti, justice. I feel like she and my Cancer friends need a part 2— so stay tuned for that.

Blessings and Burdens | Gemini

Gemini: Something to Think About

Gemini was the first of the series to take on a human aspect. Because Gemini has no direct animal symbol- I was prompted to think about this sign from a few different angles— which is quite fitting for the sign.

When I think about Gemini, I think about the thirst for knowledge, the wanting to understand how things work and how all of it fits together— when I reflect on this trait— I get a little exhausted.

I imagine Gemini placements might feel this too. It is such a blessing to be so smart and so in the details but having all of these swarming thoughts and information seems difficult— and that’s what I am conveying with this piece.

The butterflies are a nod to the duality, the mask is the many faces of Gemini. Did I get this right? That’s for you to decide.

Earthly Delights | Taurus

Here to Chill

Some art is born out of intense feelings, emotion and stress.

Taurus didn’t arrive that way. As a Taurus rising my main goal in this life is to relax and have a good time. My ideal day is a picnic outside with my friends, accompanied by amazing weather.

When painting Taurus, I had a template from the Aries painting, and my intention was just to make something beautiful and have a great time doing it.

The Initiator | Aries

The One Who Started It All

As an Aries, I had to start this collection with #1— myself.

Aries is just full of ideas and loves to start things, but they need the other signs for the follow through.

This painting means so much to me as its a symbol of diving into an idea head first. Not thinking about the process as whole— but just simply getting it started.

When I get that analysis paralysis feeling I think of the ram, just dive in and let the rest work itself out. Make the mistakes, learn, and keep it moving!
